Property For Sale

From time to time, we’ll make property available for development of affordable homes or related projects that fit with community plans and goals. Builders and developers wanting to acquire Houston Land Bank property must be pre-qualified; that process is presently closed as new programs are being developed. HLB may also sell or convey property for other purposes, including community gardens or other community improvements. Our new programs are in development; check back here for more information or visit our Programs page.

Help Us Grow

We need your help to serve more Houstonians. When we were created in 1999, and for the next decade or more, our focus areas were Acres Homes and Independence Heights in northwest Houston, Sunnyside south of downtown, and the greater Fifth Ward area northwest of downtown. Now, our focus is expanding across Houston, with a special focus on the 10 neighborhoods designated by the City of Houston as Complete Communities. If you’d like to sell or donate land to the Houston Land Bank, please contact us at info@houstonlandbank.org or at 281-655-4600 – we’d love to hear from you!

Our Inventory

We’re acquiring and selling land to make Houston’s neighborhoods better and communities stronger. Our Property Inventory Map includes properties we own or have sold for development of new homes. Most of the lots were gotten through the tax foreclosure and auction process approved by the City, County and HISD to let HLB return the properties to productive use.

Our current inventory is almost all residential lots or land, however we’re able and willing to acquire commercial sized lots for commercial development that benefits Houston communities and supports affordable homes. We are building our inventory to accommodate more affordable housing and other housing supportive community development. We will continue to acquire tax-delinquent properties not sold at auction, but are expanding our portfolio through direct acquisition and donations.

The map reflects data as of January 2020; please check back for updates. For the most current list of properties in the HLB inventory, please contact us at 281-655-4600 or info@houstonlandbank.org.
