The  Finding Home Initiative, led by the Houston Land Bank, is a pioneering affordable housing project designed to revitalize underserved neighborhoods in Houston by developing a design catalog of home plans to activate 210 vacant lots with sustainable, resilient, and accessible homes. Through community-driven design, the initiative transforms small land parcels into assets supporting generational wealth-building for low- to moderate-income families.

The Finding Home Initiative is transforming vacant lots in neighborhoods like Acres Home, Independence Heights, Fifth Ward, Third Ward, Sunnyside, Magnolia Park, and Settegast into valuable, affordable housing. This workshop will give you a voice in shaping the design, sustainability features, and accessibility of homes that will be built in your community.

Design Creation

We aim to develop a housing plan catalog with at least seven home designs to tackle the challenge of developing smaller parcels. These parcels range between 2,500 and 4,999 square feet.

Community Engagement

The community-engaged design workshops are designed to actively involve residents, stakeholders, and local leaders in shaping the housing designs and development strategies for Houston’s underserved neighborhoods.

Equitable Development

The Houston Land Bank aims to facilitate real estate projects that benefit all stakeholders, especially those who are underrepresented, disadvantaged, or historically marginalized.
